TRIFIT Swimming Programs

Becoming a better swimmer requires coaching, technique, fitness and practice. TRIFIT Multisport is committed to helping you become that swimmer.  In conjunction with TRIFIT Club & Studios, extensive coached pool and open water programs are scheduled.

Pool classes are open to those with a TRIFIT Club & Studios health club membership or with the purchase of a TRIFIT Day-Pass. Private swim coaching is also available through TRIFIT Club & Studios. During warmer weather months, TRIFIT Multisport sponsors a weekly Friday morning open water (ocean) workout.  Led by world-class open water swimmer and coach, Gerry Rodrigues, these workouts are open to the public.

"Tower 26" Open Water Swims & Training

ocean_start2Join Coach Gerry Rodrigues every Friday morning at 6:00am for OPEN WATER TRAINING. These workouts are open to the public and intended to help make swimmers and triathletes better in open water. They are very structured, coached workouts, led by Gerry Rodrigues (click the following links for more information on Gerry:  http://www.10kswimmer.com/search?q= gerry+rodrigues and Gerry_Rodrigues).  Expect to learn and execute:

  • gerryOpen water skill training and race preparation,
  • Transitions from swimming to running,
  • wetsuit removal,
  • water starts,
  • land starts,
  • navigation,
  • buoy turns, ocean_entry
  • setting up for the finish,
  • riding waves,
  • exiting the water,
  • and most importantly getting really comfortable with the dynamic environment.

These workouts are not just continuous circuit swimming, or straight point to point open water swims as Pier to Pier. They are highly structured and organized.

Workouts start every Friday at 6:00am and will continue through early November. They run approximately 75 minutes.

Requirement: This is NOT a beginner workout. You should be able to swim 1.5 k under 45 minutes, swim 1,000 meters without stopping, and swim faster than 2:30 per 100. Wetsuits are encouraged. If you are slower than stated but want to attend, bring a buddy to swim with you. Please do not swim alone. If you are totally unfamiliar or concerned about your open water swimming, we will periodically provide coaching to get you familiar with the water.  These sessions will be strictly limited in numbers.

* Please see either the home page “upcoming events” or the TRIFIT Multisport Calendar for more information about the times and locations for these swims.
